Optical Fluorescence

At the Centre our specialists have access to multiple devices that assist in the detection of suspicious lesions and aid in early detection of precancerous lesions.

Optical fluorescence is the use of a certain wavelength of light (435-460nm) to aid in the visualisation of the oral mucosa. Abnormalities such as oral cancer and pre-cancerous lesions can be detected when they would have otherwise been missed.

The Centre for Oral Medicine and Facial Pain has multiple optical fluorescence devices so you can be assured that you will receive the most comprehensive screening of your oral soft tissues.
